Where Would Yes Take You?

By Wednesday, August 17, 2016

Meg and I were having one of our heady conversations; I was remarking on how all I have said lately to the kids is “no”, “stop it” and “maybe later”. A summer of togetherness is taking a toll on all of us. I told her I need a new approach. I need to shake it up these last few weeks. During our chat I turned to her and said :

Me: What do you think would happen if I said YES instead of NO? I am going to do it. I’m going to say YES to everything for one day and see where it leads me. Do you think you could do it, Meg?

Meg: Shit, Leigh. I don’t know. No is completely off the table?

Me:  Yes. I’m going to do it. Ahhhhhh.

Meg: You’re house is going to get so fucked up, you’ll end up at Wonderland in the water park.

Me: Well, that’s better than going to Dave & Buster’s and buying a dirt bike.

We continued to run through the various scenarios that will no doubt occur. I will end up at Michael’s spending hundreds of dollars on crafts. That will be followed up with baking and making weird potions. My kids will ask to drink pop and juice because I never let them. We will go to three different burger joints for dinner because none of them like the same place.

There is one caveat; buying expensive shit. Once the kids have figured out I am saying yes to everything they will start asking for phones and iPads. My response will be “I’m not sure” or “Let me think about that”. That’s not no.

Could you do it? Have you done it? Where would YES take you? Meg and I are going to do a follow up vlog, to fill you in on where the day takes us, and what it was really like.

To YES!

L.

Ahhhh this is a scary thought but worth a try for sure. Maybe they won’t realize I am saying yes all that much?????? I’ll give it a go, I have never done it. Good Luck! Please be sure to let us know the outcome!!!!

      Hi Amy,

Meg and I are going to do it tomorrow! We have already sat down and thought of all the other ways we can say NO without actually saying it.
