Summer holiday came in like a wrecking ball, only instead of Miley in white underwear, this wrecking ball carried our tiny little offspring, all ready to pounce like a hyper-active pack of spider monkeys. To say we were unprepared for the level of warfare they came at us with is an understatement. It was as if they had the strategic and tactical warewithall to succeed in taking us down.
Like many mothers out there, we were counting down the days until the final school bell rang – not just out of angst, but also to relish in the lack of routine. No longer having to worry about packing lunches, getting to bed on time or tracking school assignments, summer holiday offers a reprieve from the ordinary.
Then the first day of summer happened:
Our kids reminded us what they are capable of – pure anarchy. After a lovely long weekend, we have regrouped and are feeling more prepared to face whatever it is they can throw at us.
